Are you and your partner feeling stuck in a pattern of arguments?
Are you feeling unseen or misunderstood by one another?
Do you need support in navigating independence and relationship?
Are you feeling unseen or misunderstood by one another?
Do you need support in navigating independence and relationship?
Ah! Relationships are truly an adventure! Sometimes, and ideally, the path we travel on with our partner is smooth and full of joy, however, inevitably we encounter rough patches, stormy weather, and seemingly dead ends. Embarking on the unknown road of building secure relationship together can be scary, as well as intimidating, when we feel like the road is too bumpy or we feel lost or in disagreement about which road to take next. Choosing to explore couples therapy is an amazing opportunity to navigate the unknown relationship road together with a little bit of support...or I'd like to call it having an objective travel guide. Cuz why not give yourself and your partner a bit of a break?
Sometimes when we are in conflict in our relationships, we could get stuck on our own side and it's difficult to see our partner's perspectives. In couples therapy, you and your partner can get the opportunity to be held and supported equally, as well as have a space to process, share, witness and learn tools & skills together as a team. When working with couples, I set intention to support clients in understanding how their earliest relationships and childhoods have impacted their current dynamics. No matter how hard we try, our adult relationships can be difficult to maintain, figure out or understand and exploring where we are coming from can be both enlightening and informative. Ultimately, having the support of a couples therapist can support you and your partner in compassionately examining and exploring all that is working and not working.

How I Work With Couples:
Since every couple is incredibly unique, I mindfully approach each relationship with a multicultural and trauma-informed lens. What that means is that I am always curious about and sensitive to the dynamic identities (LGBTQI, race, ethnicity, religion, etc) each person in a couple presents to me and know that these identities are incredibly important to how the relationship is shaped and moving. My trauma-informed lens means that I am also mindful of what potential stories we carry into our relationships, whether it be from a past romantic relationship or earlier.
In addition, when it comes to my toolbox, I integrate the following modalities:
